Location: Celtic Center - 1285 Manheim Pike, Lancaster, PA
Please join us for a panel presentation of how the Irish Brigade made a difference during the US Civil War.
We will have speakers with background of the battles in which the Irish Brigade fought during the US Civil War, with a focus on the unique fighting skills this unit possessed from leadership through hand-to-hand combat on the front lines. While activities of the Irish Brigade during the war will be discussed, a focus will be on the battle of Gettysburg July 1st – 3rd 1863. LIACS hopes to sponsor a group tour on site in Gettysburg this July, so please follow the website or email updates for details.
Local author, and movie extra for the Movie Gettysburg, Larry Alexander will be present with stories about the making of the iconic film, along with information on recent projects he is working on. Larry will have some books he authored for purchase as well as signed by him.
As a conclusion to our meeting, we will have Matthew Ward and Sharon Sacks perform Civil War era songs which tell the stories of the brave women and men who defined the American spirit in times of struggle and the emergence of a reunified nation. As always refreshments will be provided and you are free to bring the beverage of your choice.
If you are able, please consider bringing a canned item or two for the food drive, in which we participate for the Lancaster Food Hub. Snacks and soft drinks will be provided at the meeting and if you have a thirst for an adult beverage, you can bring that with you.
We hope to see you there!
